The Hannya Guardian Cigar Ashtray reinterprets one of the most iconic motifs in traditional Japanese tattoo culture through the refined language of Chinese underglaze porcelain. Fierce, symbolic, and visually commanding, the Hannya image is sealed beneath a transparent glaze, transforming tattoo art into a permanent ceramic object made for ritual, display, and collection.

Unlike surface decoration, underglaze painting is created directly on the ceramic body before being covered with a clear glaze and fired at high temperature. Through this process, the artwork becomes embedded within the porcelain itself — protected beneath the glaze rather than placed on top of the surface.

The result is a piece with exceptional visual depth: smooth in luster, rich in texture, and enduring in form. The artwork resists fading, wear, and corrosion, preserving its intensity through time while maintaining the quiet refinement of glazed porcelain.

Custom Bottom Mark Service

The bottom mark can be customized upon request for an additional fee.

Customers may personalize the base mark with selected text, initials, studio name, symbolic wording, or other approved content. When a custom bottom mark is applied, the original INKCLAW and Fuhai Sun artist signatures will still be retained in a smaller format, preserving the authenticity of the collaboration while allowing each piece to carry a more personal mark of ownership.
