One of kind wireless tattoo machine - Black Tortoise

Inspired by the cyberpunk style and feel of traditional coils tattoo machines, Inkclaw created this one-of-a-kind wireless tattoo machine - Black Tortoise. This wireless rotary tattoo machine features a large stroke adjustment range and different utilizes for needles on bar users as well as tattoo cartridge needle users, which can suit single needle work, all the way up to the largest liners and magnum shaders. With the backside rear-driven and spring-flapping transmission structure, this tattoo machine is very strong off the tip with great follow-through. Black Tortoise provides a strong puncture feeling meanwhile this structure can also offer a kind of kickback feeling, which easily allows you to do a strong, precise "one pass" line as well as smooth shading, and color blending.  Also with quick disassembly and assembly of battery cover design, tattoo artists can exchange the battery just within 3 seconds.

2 different Body Types Mark I and Mark II

Black Tortoise Mark I is the most original design, it has a better visual effect. But to be honest it might not be too friendly for bigger-hand users as well as higher grip-holding position users. Therefore Mark II comes out at the same time, features a better weight balance, and prevents the "resting on hand" issue.

3 different ways of hitting (knocking)

This tattoo machine is designed with 2 different armature bars. In the first one, you can apply screw knocking or single rubber knocking, the other one is solid for duo rubber knocking.

  • Screw knocking - wild sounds feel more powerful, a bit shock
  • Rubber knocking - still powerful but quiet a bit, less shock
  • Duo Rubber Knocking - Super silent, almost no shock feel

About the stroke

First and most important thing, the stroke of Black Tortoise is determined by the length of the push rod on the stroke cam wheel as well as the springs, which cannot be compared to other rotaries, or direct drives as the hit is completely different. Adjustable stroke range: 2.5-4.5mm recommended preset will be around 4mm. Moreover, for screw knocking type, there are 2 positions to adjust the stroke, 1 to adjust the length of the knocking screw. 2 to adjust the length of the trip of the push rod on the back side cam wheel. For Rubber knocking or duo rubber knocking, the stroke can only be adjusted through the length of the trip on the push rod on the back-side cam wheel.

Talk About the Battery

Black Tortoise Tattoo machine features a swappable 18350 battery (flat top) that you can only charge it with any external battery chargers, which will protect the chipboard of the machine itself. You can easily buy a spare battery or charger online with brands like Keeppower, HIBATT, as well as Liitokala, and soon. But to remind you of the flat top type battery only.

The usage and battery life significantly depends on the brands of the battery, working voltages, needle groupings, and tension level. As membrane cartridge needles always give extra tension, which leads to more power consumption, even the tension of cartridges is different among tattoo cartridge needle brands.

The newest update, the black tortoise tattoo machine, can use an 18500 flat-top battery with the extension battery cap.

Size and weight

We have managed to make these 2 types of machines as light as possible with a sleek aerospace-grade aluminum body, weighing 158 grams (5.5oz) for Mark I without the battery and 178 grams (6.2oz) with it. Mark II weighs 168 grams (5.8oz) without the battery and with the battery 188 grams (6.6oz). You can choose the aluminum or stainless steel grip provided by Inkclaw or compatible it with your favorite tattoo grips to achieve a better weight balance.

Black Tortoise is a one-of-kind wireless tattoo rotary machine that you must have in your collection

Please note that the machine shipped to you may slightly differ in appearance from the machine represented in the photos. Machine appearance depends on details available in stock and the manufacturer defines it.

How to avoid ink splitting issue

Many people face the ink-splitting issue when doing a tattoo, or the same situation that happens at this moment. Many different reasons lead to ink-splitting issues. It could be too large a stroke, high frequency or high voltage, damaged needle nipple, needle bar too bent, or the bad quality of the needles itself, leading to the needle not fitting the needle tip.
